There’s no sense in being cooped up inside your place all winter. There are plenty of fun things to do that will get you out and exploring the great state of Utah while it’s under a blanket of snow.

Speaking of winter activities, why not go ice skating? After all, the fun of gliding across the ice is only matched by the delicious hot chocolate you can enjoy afterwards. Here are some of Utah’s best ice skating rinks:

1. The Gallivan Center in SLC is a tradition for many Utahns.

2. Check out the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns for some fun, indoor ice skating.

3. There’s a huge facility in Cottonwood Heights (aptly named the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center).

4. Another Salt Lake County managed facility is the Salt Lake City Sports Complex.

5. The Salt Lake County Ice Center also includes public skating.

6. The Acord Ice Center in West Valley City is a good place for those who live on the west side of the valley.

Nothing like a cup of hot cocoa to warm you up this winter!

7. Everyone knows about the coffee at Jack Mormon Coffee Co., but they also make a delicious cup of hot chocolate.

Not only can you ski and snowboard at one of Utah’s famed ski resorts, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy Utah’s winter trails on cross country skis or snowshoes:

21. The Nordic Center at Solitude has opportunities for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing in a pristine setting.

22. Experience the snowshoe trails at the Sundance Nordic Center, or try the groomed cross country trails for a great workout.

23. There are nearly 20km of groomed, cross country trails at White Pine Touring in Park City.

24. If you’re the adventurous type (and have the proper backcountry safety and avalanche equipment), check out the many trails in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, including Cecret Lake.
